[Watford] Android on a PC

Hi all, perhaps some of you remember me from the early days of Watford LUG.
I have a PC with blank HDD and want to try it with Android. I have tried downloading the ISO and burning to CD but without success.
Has anyone done this successfully and better still can anyone supply a CD or memory stick that I can try??
Or am I trying something stupid?
