Hi,
My name is Steve Ruffles. I joined the list a while ago, but haven't
said anyting so far as I am very new to Linux and don't understand most
of the questions you discuss - let alone the answers!
I have tried 2 distros the first was Caldera 2.2 - came with a Sams book
- Linux in 24 hrs.
It worked fine having installed easily.
I didn't manage to learn it in 24 hrs due to other commitments - family
, work - you know the thing.
I recently tried again with linux after buying Suse 8 - installed like a
dream and tons of applications to try. No hardware problems apart from
having to buy a "proper" modem.
I can't get over what good value it is given the huge range of programs,
compared to Windows.
I guess you can get other variants for next to nothing - but they'd
often need some prior knowledge to set up and run?
I'd recommend Suse, just seems so easy for a beginner. But then my
experience is limited.
Cheers
Steve
