Java if you wish to do a Computer Science / Software Engineering degree.
C# if you are signed up to the wrong list ;) (I'm wondering if C# will
be taken up by many Uni's).

Bash/KSH if you wish to do sysadmin type stuff and find yourself doing
the same thing over and over again.
