[Wolves] Samba problem

Anyone know why this works from a RH8 box connecting to a RH samba
server, but doesn't work from my RH9 box

Both time run as root

mount -t smbfs //webserve/www /home/wayne/web -o
username=wayne,uid=wayne,gid=wayne -o rw

get:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //webserve/www,
       or too many mounted file systems

both root passwords are the same on client boxes.
I'm pretty sure share is available to any client on my LAN subnet.
