apt-cache show mozilla will show the details about mozilla,
which should give you a version number...

I've been running unstable now for over a year without
a problem. It's useful to drop into #debian before you
do an apt-get upgrade; if you shouldn't upgrade unstable
at the moment the topic will tell you so in big letters.
This is very rare, but very occasionally someone like
the PAM maintainer will upload a new version to unstable
which stops you logging in or something. I reiterate that
this is very rare (about twice in two years) but it doesn't
hurt to check. Then again, I never check and it's never
caused me a problem. :)
