Any major brand laptop should be well supported.

Tiny laptops, X doesn't like weird shaped screens as I
have found :) My new one isn't so bad but if you can
stick with a 14/15" screen you'll be happy. Centrino
does work, or you could just buy a £10 wireless card
if you don't want to bother making it work, so don't
let that be a major factor against buying a laptop,
but not a major factor for either :)
