The hell with the Debian installer. Even the new one is a pain. Knoppix
is the Way. What did you find wrong with removing stuff? I'm puzzled.
dpkg --get-selections will list all the packages (or dpkg --list | grep
^i, as discussed), and then construct one Great Big Delete Line:
apt-get --purge remove kdelibs4 gnome-core twm blah blah blah
and that'll remove most of it. It'll show you a list of stuff it'll
remove, so you can eyeball that list to make sure that X isn't being
removed or anything. Note that removing kdelibs4 will remove all of
KDE, because it all depends on it, and removing gnome-core (I think
that's what it's called) will remove Gnome. Note also the --dry-run
option to apt-get, if you want to see what it'd do without actually
doing it, and rtfapt-getm for more details. :)
