It was more to do with the fact BT lost a large chunk of it's
infrastucture. It knocked out phone lines (and associated services)
along with the leased lines to some of the biggest datacentres in the
country

crossing back to the other conversation one of the most dangerous
effects you can cause in a microwave is to cause a standing wave which
could turn something as inecent as water to become on the fringes of
becoming plasma. This is the cause of lots of scalding. A broken
turnable and distilled water can be heated past boiling point and can
rapidly expand as it boils on contact with something like instant
coffee and standing waves in infra sound are one theory for evp and
other electronic tricks in places that claim to be haunted. Effects of
infra sound waves like this on people include visual disturbances,
hearing things and feeling sick. Things lots of people say they
experience in haunted locations. Wierd how two totally different
conversations can converge like this ;-)
