Bollocks to that!

I'm not dragging my two ton beast anywhere ever again.

I was thinking more along the lines of a virtual class room where you could
log in, say like a chat room, with one person as the tutor/admin.

Once logged into the classroom the ability to log into/control a Server/PC, I
don't know if a pretend software one is available but something could be done
with VMware or something of that nature.

You then have a class on say, setting up an NFS share, so each pupil would
have a go then the tutor/everyone could comment on what was wrong or ask
questions.

Install fests are OK for stand alone solutions but most people have moved on
from there and are looking at connectivity, cross platform applications and
network solutions.

Even a question and answer would be better than nothing at all its just I
don't think mailing list are the right forum for that kind of thing IMHO
mailing lists are more of a "can you help me with this problem"? rather that
"Can you teach me how to do this"? and in respect of this list we're more of
an old woman's type setup chatting about the price of baked beans and did you
see such and such on the tele last night?

Having said that with all the new members we're attracting I suppose Wolvs-LUG
will evolve into a more purist Linux correspondence type thingy which is a
shame as once I got used to it not being what I thought it was I now really
enjoy the plethora of diverse topics, the way it is at the moment a newbie
(God I hate that word) can join in and not sit there looking at the screen
thinking "I don't know anything about that so I'll log off"

Here endith the sermon please place your donations in the plate by the door on
your way out :-)
