I'm not 100% sure on this but IIRC SuSE requires at least a Pentium II/300MHz.
Whilst you can forget the 300MHz bit (as it should still run but just
sloooooooooooow) the kernel may well have been compiled with PII
optimizations which would render it incompatible with a PI.
