Hi Peter,
Tthe problem you're addressing is with SUSE 9.3 which I haven't yet got,
I tend to follow the curve(find it's cheaper that way). As too your problem
you can try booting from the install disc's and picking system repair, as
you haven't had a chance to update the system you can accept anything the
boot disc wishes to repair.
Will it work? It's beyond my experience with SUSE 9.3.
Hopefully it will, however one thing my little experiment (loading distro's
to get the best usability out of the box) showed me was that some distributions
move beyond your hardware and it only takes one PCI card or peripheral to
cause a glitch.
If you've moved to 9.3 to cure a problem that originally occured in 9.2,
I take it your data's safe so why not revert to 9.2 as a new install?
If it worked before it should work again, as I said I'm taking the idiots
approach to linux, there might be a simple fix with a few command lines ,
but my reasoning is Linux is evolving so fast the time taken to fully understand
its' present form whilst worthwhile is only useful for specific hitches.
A non-booting system where you have loaded a later version as a last resort
is not a specific hitch.
