I don't believe that's quite how it happened. I think Novell bought SUSE
to have somewhere to run NDS and Zen that wasn't ownzed by Microsoft.
I was sent on an NDS course a few years ago because the Windows server
monkeys didn't want to look after my department's Zen servers any more
because they were moving to SMS. I understand that NDS had been of
rock-like stability BUT Novell were in the process of webbifying it. It
had two interfaces which each did more than half a job but it was the
least integrated production system I've ever used. If it still isn't
finished then I'd be worried about betting too much to it.
