I'm finally looking into getting broadband, but could do with some help to

Well, I am with Demon, I am with the HomeOffice package , £24.99 a month, 
thats a 2MB line, really happy, very reliable service.
If you don't want HomeOffice they do a home package which is cheaper still

What is best, a router or a modem? And I'll need one that works under Linux 
> (obviously!)


I would always recommend a router, a router is almost always guaranteed to 
work under Linux and any other operating system, and ethernet is better.
