I don't know the answer to the above - but if you get a Cisco VoIP phone
you should know they don't ship with SIP support.

They come with the SCCP image as standard for use with Cisco Call
Manager and you need to get down and dirty with your TFTPD and Cisco
boot images.

Oh, and you can't upgrade directly to the latest image - the process
makes you jump through some hoops.
