Believe it or not Acer are now shipping machines with Linux pre-installed it 
might pay you to either look on the Acer website or drop their support guys a 
mail.

While I realise the Laptop might not be new and had Windows on it they may be 
receptive to help you seeing as they have only just started to venture into 
the glorious easy world of Linux ;)
