[Wolves] Ubuntu Live CD fails to boot

It sounds to me like there is a definite hardware issue here.  The
likely suspect is the cdrom if you bring your laptop over to mine, I
could drop the cd out of the lug laptop and you could try that in your
machine and see if everything works then.  Another alternative is to
ensure that the cdrom is both, the first boot device and is being read
correctly by the bios, if not then flash the bios and that may stop
the problem.  Failing that try getting hold of Andy (splineboy) monkey
sailor and he might be able to offer some alternate suggestions.
