Kevan if you care to read my appointment notice "handing over the
reigns" you will note that I am trying to guide the lug into one
semi-formal meeting bi-monthly.

The reasons for this are simple:

1. People vote with their feet everyone that currently turns up gets
a say in what they want. If you want more talks turn up on the talk
nights. If these semi-formal events are demanded more and more then
that will be the way the lug goes if not then it will stay more
social. I can't see the point in trying to cater for people who
aren't actually there.

2. You haven't been to and event where a talk was given it is already
as close to formal as the lug wishes to get. These talks get frank
debate after with questions and insults hurled wildly, and fun is had
by all. Everyone who wants to drink can do so and everyone who wants
to eat can do so also.

3. My main goal is to cater for the Lug the best I know how. When it
come to the mailing list there are currently 143 members and the list
tends to go a different way to the meetings. However the meetings are
attended by a faithful few and therefore governed by me on their
behalf. If I do something radical that is not liked by these members
then they don't show and there is no Lug. However I will be flexible
and if more of any one thing is requested then I will try my best to
turn the lug in that direction. But everybody that comes and has
been, on the whole have approved of our more social lug than the idea
of the formal one, so this is one point that I believe will never
change. Many of the chats that are had in this situation are more
informative than any formal talk all you have to do is join in. These
chats tend to get to the nitty gritty of a problem you are having
quicker than a formal talk also.
