I just tried Rosegarden on Ubuntu Feisty and it whinged about timers. My 
mate Google said that this meant I needed to install a low-latency 
kernel. If this is still the case on Gutsy then: Warning! Don't listen 
to the people who tell you that you need to re-compile your kernel to 
achieve this. There is a low latency kernel package in the Ubuntu 
repositories.

I'd be very interested in a talk on this stuff. There seem to be a 
confusing array of alternative architectures.
