Are you getting any error messages for ssd1 in the logs just before it
re-starts the rebuild?

Have you had any reports from users about problems with the VMs? How
full are the VM disks? If no problems have been reported, it is
possible that the bad sector is in an unused area.

I would suggest you fail out sdc1, use that to create a new file
system and do a file copy (I would use
"tar cf - --sparse --atime-preserve . | (cd /mnt/newfs ; tar xvf - --sparse)").

As modern disk drives usually automagically map out bad sectors as they
develop, sdd needs to be replaced sooner rather than later as getting
a bad sector being reported suggest that the re-map area is exhausted
and more bad sectors will soon occur.
