The GUI???

You could disable hardware you dont need (bluetooth, cdroms, etc, etc) or
set up hardware profiles.  Can you do that in Linux?

Run it off a 2.5 SAS drive or laptop drive. You can barely hear the discs on
the new servers with 2.5" SAS drives.

Unplug it!! ;-)
