The problem I have is I can't get to a point where I can open a terminal, the whole thing stops no keyboard or anything works so I have to shut down through holding the power button until it powers down.

I installed Mandriva and that went well without any hiccups so its Ubuntu that is broke rather than my machine or monitor. I cannot do much about that.

I have dismissed the wireless altogether now (quite annoyed about that) and went for the Ethernet connection via the electric wires and that is working fine.

I'll give the ubuntu install another go and see what happens. If I can get any info I will post here to see what is happening. I will also post on the Ubuntu website.

Cheers

Mo
