I'll second that; I nearly always make new customers pay 50% up front.
For subsequent jobs I'll relax to standard 30 days....


It is amazing the list of excuses you will get to explain why you've not
been paid. If in doubt, there are numerous credit collection agencies -
you appear to take around about 10% of the invoice amount. Threating
annoying customers with these works very well. You might want to ensure
your invoice makes it clear that the customer [late payer] is
responsible for any debt collection fees
