Currently have the same issues Adam, I had to move my router to the main
phone point by the front door which meant loss of wifi signal and
interestingly poor CAT5 connectivity too.

Signal strength in my front room is down to 36-42% Hannah can no longer
"get on the network" from her bedroom Monique however can. This is due
to her being right above the router and the signal being able to go
through plasterboard and floor boards I imagine.

I have invested in Zyxel

5 port switch which has fixed the CAT5 issue (Rubbish 4 port Netgear HUB
methinks).

I shall be taking delivery of the wireless access point today so can let
you know tonight/tomorrow it that has improved the wifi signal.

TBH all these 'Hi Gain' antennas are generally pointless its the *walls
fault* the signal just refuses to go through them, you may get a slight
increase if you're lucky enough to get some coverage slip round the door
etc, but to be honest you're better off getting some cheap access points.
