Hence the modifier 'nearly'.

You might remember that I agreed to take over when you retired and that
I was a salaried office worker based in Leeds at the time that I made
that agreement.

As it turns out, I was made redundant a few days after I agreed
to take on your role, and before you retired.

It immediately became apparent that the travelling involved in freelance
work would make it difficult for me to do the wylug job ... so in actual
fact, I was asking around for other volunteers pretty much as soon as I
took on the role (resulting, eventually, in this list being setup).

My original thoughts were that, since I had offered to do the job after
you retired, I was under some obligation to fill the gap until some
more permanent arrangement could be made. At the time, I said that I'd
do the job for at least a year, if no-one else stepped forward.

It's been at least 2.75 years now, and the burden of living 'on the
road' has only increased ... to such an extent that merely attending
wylug meetings has been difficult (not to mention expensive, in terms of
lost earnings).

I'm not whinging, just explaining my circumstances. I would have love to
have done more, and would love to do more in the future, but it really is
beyond my capacity right now.

I should also add, that I'm very grateful for all the support that has
been forthcoming from members of this group and others.

Dave

P.S. At least 4 people spring to mind as recent volunteers outside this
group: Louisa Parry, John Leach , Tom Hall, Paul Brook. None may want
to take on the whole role, but I think most would be happy to do
something ... in fact Louisa and John have already done plenty.
