Greetings All,
Not quite as big a turn out last meeting, but still good. Many thanks to
Mark and David for the presentations.
The Next meeting has yours truly giving the introductory talk "Getting
Tools to Fit the Job: Using Components, Pipes, Redirection", a sort of
Command Line Interface part 2. The talk will introduce some of the main
command line tools, and talk through many practical examples of their use
both alone and in combination.
This will be followed by an extensive "hardware" topic - printers. Roger
Leigh is going to give us a "An introduction to printing with GNU/Linux".
Roger has summerised his talk as "Printing with GNU/Linux has long had a
reputation for being difficult to set up and use, but today printing has
never been easier. This talk covers getting a printer that works with
Linux, setting up the kernel to talk with your printer and configuring the
printer spooling software. Finally, it details using your printer with
Linux, once everything is set up."
Then afterwards, down to the Victoria Pub for chat and a drink. Everyone
is welcome, and it is a great opportunity to tap people for information
and help.
See you all on Monday
cheers
Jim
