*A Meeting to Revive Leeds (Bradford) Independent Media Centre*
*(http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/leedsbradford/)*

/Wednesday 29th October 2008, 7pm, The Common Place, Leeds/
/(http://www.thecommonplace.org.uk/images/howtogettocp.pdf)/

"Indymedia is a collective of independent media organizations and
hundreds of journalists offering grass roots, non-corporate coverage.
Indymedia is a democratic media outlet for the creation of radical,
accurate, and passionate tellings of truth."

A few months ago, I wanted to start volunteering for Leeds IMC. It soon
became apparent that there was no functioning kollektive, the
information about the IMC itself was out-dated, links dead, flames
everywhere and examining the list archives suggested that there were all
sorts of other problems.

So I've met half a dozen people (so far) who are interested in reviving
our local IMC, with a mixture of tech skills, political interests and
journalistic skills. We're hosting this meeting to explore the
possibilities for how a revival could happen (or whether we need to
start afresh). It would be helpful if anyone who'd been involved in the
past could come and tell us what mistakes not to repeat.

This meeting is open to anyone who shares our interests and wants to
work creatively and respectfully to make something of real social value.
Booking is not essential, but it would help if people could let me know
if they're coming. Please arrive early so we can start on time.

[note on cross-posting: this distribution list was agreed by consensus,
but we're sorry if anyone gets this more than once]
