| Ok I'm renowned for being a terminal junky - even own a few REAL terminals
| and use them! so GUIs are in general anathema to me. BUT I have had to use
| MS Office to produce stuff for printers etc, and latterly I have used
| OpenOffice to the same job and my experience is that OO is easier to use
| and less frustrating than MSoffice. So I'd be interested to know why, Nik
| and Rik seem to think it is inferior?
|
| Interestingly the printer I dealt with knew I'd changed from MSOffice by
| the better quality output, but thought I started using something real on a
| MAC :-) I'll be interested in trying out the PDF writer stuff, I've not
| gone to OO 1.1 yet.

I'll agree with Jim here.... my wife was struggling to do some basic
page layout in Word, but managed it easily in OO on my Linux box.

The final MS outpost (her PC) in the house appears to have had it's day.
All she uses is OO and Moz, so she's agreed to ditch Windows. :-)

OO 1.0.1 had PDF export, but you had to add a PDF printer in spadmin. It
worked a treat.

I use the PDF export to keep low-life agencies from meddling with my CV,
which they have done in the past. I once had an interviewer asking me
about a job I'd never done! If they ask for a word doc, they have to
answer a few tricky questions first!

I have no problems with OO, and it certainly isn't a poor-man's MS Office.
