I use the Buffalo WMR-G54, which is a Wi-Fi + Switch + Router + ADSL
modem. Comes in at about £80 from Amazon or Ebuyer.

It runs a small build of Linux (Busybox I think). Has Telnet, SSH, SNMP,
TFTP etc. services + IP QoS, Firewalling etc. Very nice bit of kit.
