Well, at least I think I know what went wrong.  If I ping 192.168.0.2 I get 
a reply from 192.168.0.1, so 0.2 must be reserved by the D-Link router.  
What's really worrying, though, is that no amount of prodding with a 
paper-clip is making that reset button work, so I can't change any 
settings.
