On checking, I think you're right - they all already have the colon. As for
the envelope, it used to be easily recognisable in View > Source but it
doesn't seem to be there now, so perhaps you're right on that as well.

Thanks for the extended explanation, Smylers. As you say, it doesn't solve my
problem, but increased understanding is always useful. The use of '\' is
something that I don't think I fully understand. Again, I have read
conflicting descriptions.
