Hi folks.
As part of the backup solution mentioned in my other post the salesman
suggested banning all local storage ('My Documents' etc) and having
them all on a single network file server - he did conceed that Linux
would be the better solution here due to M$'s licensing policies and
the fact that we've over 100 users (and therefore 100 CALs).
My question is what's the best way to set this up? I don't need
hot-desking so I can map 1PC -> 1 User, but I do need:
1) to be able to automatically (and reliably) at user logon ,mount a
mapped network drive from the WinXP box to the Linux box.
2) to redirect 'My Documents' and 'Desktop' to the mapped network drive
3) keep temporary files and temporary internet files on the local disk
4) anything else you can think of, such as any PDC style functionality I
can benefit from out of the Linux boxes.
Sorry to go OT. The more I wrote this the more I realised it was an XP
question and not a Linux one, but I'm sure there are people out there
who've done this.
