As a sort of sledgehammer alternative you might want to take a look at
songbird. It is reviewed in this month's Linux Format.

I winced when I read the word 'mashup' however briefly looked into
packaging this earlier this year. It has a 0.3 binary ready to run
from the above URL.
As for IEs4Linux I thought that you could enable flash (and therefore
streaming flv) when installing it?
