	He takes the bait!

I hope you're not here to troll, that would be disappointing.

		 > Bonus point for Emacs because vi sucks so hard its
in a constant state of sucking itself through itself, out the rear and
then repeating the process.

Nonsense. The only reason people think vi "sucks" is
because they haven't been taught it properly.

No. They quickly realise that they don't want their digits
performing the finger-equivalent of The Nutcracker suite just to edit a
text file.

That's just your opinion; it's hardly mine. Not all computer users
find that keyboard-controlled software analogous to gymnastic exercises
(or indeed ballet), and not all computer users desire to use the mouse
simply because it is there. vi wouldn't have evolved at all if there
were more suitable replacements. Nobody said you /had/ to like it (it
just happens to be the case that I do).

It may be full of nuances,

	bugs

but in general they /do/ fit in with those of the other
Unix tools you use in combination with it, and are otherwise
inter-consistent - in that order. If you aren't comfortable with Unix in
general,

No, that's why I'm on this mailing list...

then fine - don't touch vi with someone else's
bargepole: you'll never "get" it.

Maybe "never" was a bit harsh there, but you admit limited experience
of the environment in which vi runs, are unlikely to appreciate it being
the way it is by implication from that, yet wish to hold the argument
that it's buggy? Do elaborate; I'm intrigued.

Wills.
