My original pop at vi was intended as a joke at the long-running emacs vs vi
debate and thought some people would find it amusing. I was not expecting to
actually enter into a discourse about it but since it's a Slow Work Day I'm
tempted to say the least, especially since you're obviously a person that
holds text editing close to his heart. I've also learnt a new word -
"inter-consistent".

Wha...? Really?

With a passion, clearly.
It may be full of nuances,

Okay, this was harsh I'll admit. I know of no bugs in vi. Because I so
rarely use it. Because it sucks.
but in general they /do/ fit in with those of the other Unix tools you use

Sorry, this was sarcasm. Dangerous stuff and I should have known better.
I've got plenty of *nix experience and its increasing one joyful day at a
time.
then fine - don't touch vi with someone else's bargepole: you'll never "get"

Fine. And you stay away from emacs - its for people who still laugh at
themselves and the world around them.
Maybe "never" was a bit harsh there, but you admit limited experience of

Don't see one for emacs. :)
Have a nice day.
