Using Kubuntu/Ubuntu it works first time.  Just Madwifi that causes a 
problem...

You may wish to stay away from KDE 4.1 and wait for KDE 4.2 which will 
be a lot better.  Other than that you can use Windowmaker or XFCE for 
a desktop.  XFCE looks a lot like Macintosh.

"  sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential
wget 'http://snapshots.madwifi.org/madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6-current.tar.gz'
tar zxvf madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6-current.tar.gz
cd madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6-*
make clean
make
sudo make install
sudo reboot "

But, this is *trivial* and works really well.  The 901 version of the 
EeePC is superb :)
