Just one more point that may be of interest to the list though, about
the target audience / use of the word "activists". The reason for this
is in how the group evolved. A few of us who were hanging out down at
the common place were GNU/Linux users and were involved in the free
software movement in some way. We knew people who were involved in all
sorts of other libertarian & liberatory movements, but knew little about
software freedom and we thought that needed to be addressed. We wanted
to help them get to grips with life after microsoft and outside the
corporate internet, to put their libertarian ideals into practice. So we
started putting on skill-share events. The privacy/security side of
things is just a small part of it, although I tend to dwell on it
because it's more intellectually stimulating than the thing that takes
up the most time, which is walking people through ubuntu installs.
