I tend to "work around" it by taking an image of the error, when what I
want is the text, or laboriously retyping it.  Livid is fair.

I feel at a minimum the dialogue box's code should support the obvious
ways of highlighting text and copying it (to clipboard/wherever).  MS
aren't likely to do that but it's not too late for Linux's various GUIs
to do it.  "Just" needs some programming.
