Just a polite suggestion.
For people in similar circumstances to myself, it would be of great help if the person giving/organising the events also has access to the wylug website to put a calander of - proposed - events on please. Just a few meetings in advance would suffice.

Hi Nigel,
Perhaps the moderators are not the right people to be moderating the announce list then? Sorry to sound like I'm griping here, but this has now happened more than one month running.
As it is we have a very loose organisational "structure", and Paul is generally "announcing" the meeting because noone else has. If the announcement doesn't get through, we're wasting Paul's time and not exactly encouraging people to turn up. It also makes us look even less organised than we are, which is impressive considering the loose collection of geeks that we are.
Perhaps Paul could be added to the mod list so he can approve his own announcement, in lieu of a formal organisation. Other than that, is there a genuine problem with spam at the announce list? If there is no actual moderation happening, need we even have it as moderated?
Just my tuppence.

It seems this now happens on a monthly basis

All announce emails are moderated, and there is a dependency on the load/availability of the moderators.
In this case it was posted late Sunday, so the earliest I would have seen it would have been Monday, except I was tied up through the whole day and did not get a chance to deal with held mail. I suspect a similar thing happened with the other people that moderate. [Incidentally it was not me that dealt with that email - it had been allowed through before I got to the list this morning]
Expecting lighting response on an announce list is unrealistic.
Nigel.

Paul,
There's something going on here. I didn't receive this email until the
morning of 12th!! I don't have this problem with any other emails.

The next meeting will be on Monday 11th February at Veritas[1] for a

Feel free to bring your Linux problems and issues down for the experts to take
a look at (laptops only, of course).
If you're new to Linux and want a little hand-holding, do come along, or if
you just fancy a bit of geeky chat there’s always lively debate on a range of
geek and non-geek subjects.
