Hi Anne
I've not had to import old files into it, but FreeCAD is extremely impressive.
It's a very capable parametric 3D modeller and I've used it for designing
components for 3D printing. Looking at at the import dialogue box, there are a
lot of supported formats. Might be worth giving it a go.
