hi Tim,
I'm fairly new to linux too,
Speaking from experience i'd try Mandrake, SuSE or Red Hat first and just
play and get a feel for the OS, read up on stuff (O'Reily's "Running Linux"
or google any problems you have).
And then look and the other distributions dependant on your needs/skills.
You may find one of the bigger distro's suit's your need's (I'm settled with
SuSE 8.2 Pro) but once you get more confident, do try play with the other
distro's to see what they offer.
And most of all just keep at it nad have fun! It's hard at first but for me
the only reason i now go into winodws is to play games.
Tom
