Morning all...
Since I rebuild my laptop, I'm having problems with my wireless LAN card.
It's a Lucent Orinoco Silver card, which supports (only) 64-bit
encryption, and it talks to a D-Link DWL-900AP+ access point.
Before the hard disk in my machine blew, I was running Debian 3.0 with
the 2.4.18 kernel and all was good. Now though, I've got Gentoo
installed with the 2.4.22 kernel from sys-kernel/gentoo-test-sources and
the card only works properly if WEP encryption is disabled (not good).
Pulling data down through the card seems fine, as in I can download
large files from other machines on the wired LAN at decent speed, but
when I'm sending data, the connection freezes after a few KB's (like
four or five KB).
This has effects like...... SSH works with version 1 of the SSH
protocol, but not with version 2 because more data is exchanged. Web
pages with long URLs fail, like search engine requests or slashdot
posts. I can't send emails longer than a few lines.
Everything works OK with the encryption turned off though :-/
I need the 2.4.22 kernel in order to support my scanner though.
I'm using pcmcia-cs card drivers, not the kernel ones. Version 3.2.4 is
installed.
Anybody got any ideas?
Ta,
James
