Afternoon all,

Back when I did PABX programming stuff for a large insurance company, we
had a piece of kit made by Racal which was for recording phone lines
en-mass. It had interfaces on the back for 64 phone lines and was
situated in the PABX room next to the switch. It recorded all 64 lines
simultaneously onto DDS tapes, and had a hard disk for buffering to
allow tapes to be changed or old tapes to be accessed whilst continuing
to record.

I don't think the company or product exist any more, but this was the thing:

I want to rig up a home-brew version for just one line. Basically it
needs to do on-off hook detection, recording from the phone line,
probably via a software modem, and compression to hard disk with
datestamping.

Anybody know of any project doing this?

James
