After my recent email problems receiving email from Freeserve, who completely deny that they were at fault, I need to setup secondary email servers.
My current dns is:
mail IN A 195.8.178.184
@ IN MX 5 mail.nlvh.co.uk.

and I want to add a mail server on a second server.
e.g:
mail IN A 195.8.178.184
@ IN MX 5 mail.nlvh.co.uk.
mail1 IN A 82.68.28.34
@ IN MX 10 mail1.nlvh.co.uk.

Can somebody tell me if this is the correct way of doing it and will it work, assuming that I setup the second mail server as mail1.nlvh.co.uk.

If this is the correct way, do I need to setup 2 email clients to receive email from mail.nlvh.co.uk. and mail1.nlvh.co.uk.

If I am completely wrong would somebody give me some pointers in the right direction.

Thanks,

John C
PS The Freeserve problem now seems to be resolved. Thanks to everybody who helped.
