Sorry to re-open the thread...
A slightly different perspective might help.
Why not let the young one use messanger which can communicates using
port 80. eg. yahoo messanger does this.
Okay, he/ she probably wants to talk to friends on m$ messanger, but i
believe that some of the messanger clients at source forge will use port
80, and can talk to m$ messanger.
Installing a linux firewall seems like overkill to allow messanger
access. Especially if your router is already acting as a firewall.
Goto www.sf.net and search for messanger I am sure you will find
something that does what you want.
