Running Linux? Of course!

Running Windows? Lid on or lid off, definately harmful.

More seriously though, I'd never much thought about it. I suppose as
CPU's head into the GHz's there might be some radiation at microwave
frequencies. Given that there's no warnings given of any sort I'd
imagine it'd be barely detectable.

Worry more about your mobile phone. Or don't actually, it's all FUD
unless you stand with it glued to your head for 24 hours a day. The
warm, tingling sensation that some people report is most likely just a
result of pressing a hard thing against the side of your head for an
hour.

Also, the GHz CPU thing hasn't made it my way yet! A few hundred MHz is
find for me.
