Someone suggested that I try setting server signing to disabled.  This time
the connection was not refused, and initially I could umount it.  However, I
remounted and attempted to browse, but could not.  At that point I could not
umount.  The logs refer to 'broken pipe' - but I don't understand the
implications of that.

I've tried the samba mailing list, but I'm getting no replies from there.  Can
