Done a few things with Jeremy Allison.

You can have a look at the docs page...

http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/

one of the better ones is .... "PDF version of the Troubleshooting
Techniques chapter from the second edition of Sam's Teach Yourself
Samba in 24 Hours (Dec. 2001)"

I have always found with Samba that the nmbd and smbd daemons may not
be working or running on one release or another. You can read the
documentation for troubleshooting this. Or, for example do 'restart
nmbd' or similar command to make sure that it is running. Depends
which version of Unix you are using as to which command line option
you use. Other favourite one for not making a connection between a
Unix and winduhs boxen is lack of permissions on the Samba server
share. Had that one a few times myself.

Also, make sure you run the troubleshooting tests to make sure that
you have used the correct syntax in the right place in smb.conf. You
did enable lmhosts on the Samba server as well didn't you ?

Richard
