If you are using Mdk9.2 proceed with a little caution - this version chewed up a
number of CD drives (I lost 3 LGs this way!)though apparently they can be
recovered. I've just had a look at the Errata page at
http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/ but it seems that its no longer supporting
9.2 (might be hidden elsewhere?); it's probably worth taking a look at the
hardware database on that site to check for compatibilty.
It might be worthwhile upgrading to 10 or 10.1 (and 10.2 will be due for release
soon).
