Distros may vary, but I have the symlink
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.7.2/plugins/libjavaplugin_0ji.so
which points to
/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so

I don't remember having to do anything else.  HTH
