know a few people that have had problems with dell laptops lately
hardware problems not software

btw i got one of these ibm thinkpad R50e , and would recomend one , from :-
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=3835&category_id=233&manufacturer_id=0
("local" and cheep where it not for the fact that i just moved to wales but
there in leeds)
it boots linux from a live cd ok
most things i have tried seem to work fine with linux , although not installed
a version on the hd as yet ( waiting till i can afford a bigger hd first )
the only problem i have had is linux on live cd doesnt seem to recognise the
wifi , but fine with the t10/100 ethernet ( dont think the live cd has wifi
drivers included (a knoppix version couple of years old))

need to get bigger hd so i can dual boot it ,but its the only windows machine
i have atm

Dave
